ROCKY MOUNTAIN PARENTS AS TEACHERS RAISES OVER $20,000
FOR DENVER-AREA FAMILIES AT RISK

DENVER, CO (December 15, 2011) –
Rocky Mountain Parents As Teachers (www.rmpat.org) hosted a matinee performance of THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER last Saturday which featured a special “Talk-Back” with the actors after the performance. All proceeds will go directly to help families by supporting RMPAT's mission of increasing school readiness and success among children, and preventing child abuse, neglect, and family breakdown due to a lack of support in families.

“Our heartfelt thanks goes to all of our donors, Dependable Cleaners, the DCPA, as well as the cast and crew of THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER,” said Ricki Feist, Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Parents as Teachers.  “To be able to share a unique theater experience with children and their families in a format where all proceeds will help families in need in the Denver community is what made this such a meaningful experience.”

Rocky Mountain Parents as Teachers provides equal access for all families of young children (pre-natal to school age). Through monthly home visits, the program teaches and supports parents, increases school readiness, decreases abuse and neglect, and closes the achievement gap.  For more information, please visit www.rmpat.org.

About THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER

THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER,
by Mark Twain and adapted by Laura Eason, will play The Space Theatre November 11 – December 18, 2011. The classic novel of Missouri boyhood comes to the stage in a high-spirited theatrical romp. Mischievous Tom and his pal Huck witness a murder, then embark on a string of wild escapades. Becky Thatcher, Aunt Polly, Injun Joe and the rest join Tom in this timeless family tale. Generously supported by Boeing, THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER also is a HealthONE Family Production. THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER was selected specifically to appeal to middle school children and families. We encourage families to attend together to discuss the adult situations including a murder.
