Rocky Mountain Parents as Teachers
About Us
Rocky Mountain Parents as Teachers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the Denver Metro area. Our mission is to provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. RMPAT's goals are to increase school readiness and success among children and to prevent child abuse, neglect and family breakdown due to a lack of support in families.
Our History
In 1989, a former school principal founded RMPAT to address significant
gaps that he had seen in the school preparedness of many children -
especially those from low-income and minority families. He chose the
best-practice Parents as Teachers (PAT) model because of its
demonstrated efficacy in helping children from at-risk families achieve
school-readiness as well as its foundation in child development
research.
Now an international affiliate of Parents as Teachers National Center
and member of Colorado Parents as Teachers, RMPAT is a stellar example
of the PAT program's effectiveness in equipping parents and families
with the training, tools and supports they need for children to succeed
in school.
